Powder Coating Brake Caliper Question?????
I want to powdercoat my from calipers. Is there somewhere that i can find out how to disassemble and reassemble the calipers? Is everything reuseable or do some sort of seals need to be replaced??
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Powder Coating Brake Caliper Question?????
everything has to be disassembled right to the caliper core, and after powder coating it needs to be rebuilt with a caliper rebuild kit which replaces all the seals.

Re: Powder Coating Brake Caliper Question?????
You need a compressed air source and one of those rubber tipped blow guns to blow the pistons out, and keep your fingers clear of the piston when it moves...they hurt when they come flying out. It takes around 90# to get the pistons out. Then clean them up good, media blast them if you can for better adhesion, and coat them. Make sure you mask of the piston bore and bleeder and banjo bolt holes, and MAKE SURE you mask off the area where the crush washer sits. If this small circle gets coating on it the washers wont' seal and you'll have a leak. If your seals are uncracked and flexible they can be reused but I still recommend new ones. Any questions, send me a PM.
