Ed help My Baer Brake's Pads rattle in abutments (pad holders)

I have the Baer brakes on street / track day car.

5 + years old. / Seen 5 to 6 set of pad. Probable just worn out. Caliber rebuilt twice.

The pads rattle in the abutments or pad holders.

Touch the brakes they shut up. Just annoying.

Ed please chime in and say that you can sell me some new abutments.

I can't spell abutments, But you get the idea.

The Baer brakes are usually like the 1LEs so maybe I can help. Do you have the little spring clips installed on the end of the pad to keep tension between the caliper and abutment? I would post a pic, but I don't have any of my brakes.

Re: Ed help My Baer Brake's Pads rattle in abutments (pad holders)

Thanks bingo as this fixed my long standing rattle. Bugged the shet out of me. Now very quiet. Thing was I found none of the clips on my Bendix pads that I have on the car. I don't remember if they were there when I installed them or not. I can't believe the noise has been there for several years. I had an almost new set of PFC pads and used the clips on those.

Are replacement clips available?

Most parts stores will list them as anti rattle clips or as a brake hardware kit. If they give you any static just ask for a hardware kit for the front of a 96 Mustang Cobra.

Re: Ed help My Baer Brake's Pads rattle in abutments (pad holders)

The anti rattle clips are only used on LS1 and C5 abutments which are Baer GT kits, not the Baer Track kits which are 1LE and C4 style mounts. The only way to fix these are to replace them or have them machined which isn't worth it.

I have new abutments in stock if you need some, give me a call.
