Truck brakes
I am kind of a newbie at this, but I bought a '91 RS V6 for $750 as a daily driver/ project car that gets slightly better mileage than the '07 F150 that was my daily driver (and I am paying less insurance for both vehicles now than I was just for the truck, so I figured I couldn't go wrong). My plan is to build the whole car, but a little bit at a time. Right now, my vision is to pull 5.3LS motor out of a truck, probably with the tranny at least for now until I get the time and money to upgrade to a T56. I'm wanting to upgrade the brakes at some point, because the stock ones just are not cutting it for me. My idea was to pull the complete brake system out of the truck I get the engine/tranny out of. I would look at getting them out of a 4th gen car, but I think it would be easier to find and cheaper to get the ones off of a truck. I did some pretty basic research and found that my car came with 10.5 in rotors stock with rear drums, and the LS engine trucks came with 12.0 front discs and 12.6 rear discs.
I don't know much at all about building cars, this whole thing is a learning experience for me, but I'm wanting to learn and do the work myself, and this seemed like a good idea to me. This isn't really an issue to me, but I had also thought I might be able to keep ABS since I would be bringing the stock computer along. I probably wouldn't want to mess with the ABS, but the rest seems like it would work well. Any ideas on what, if anything, would work?

I'm not sure how you'd get the 6 lug rotors on our 5 lug hubs. The abs sensor wheel is in the hub/bearing assembly on those trucks also, so at least those would need to be fabed up to work the abs.

Re: Truck brakes
Yeah I guess that would kinda rule them out, I was thinking they were still the 5-lugs.
Then... did the previous generation trucks have 5 lug wheels, what size rotors did they have, and would it be hard to swap these brakes into my car?

Re: Truck brakes
Those rotors are 5 lug, but have a bigger spacing that would need other wheels. Might want to talk to, or see posts from ebmiller88 or see his website: http://www.flynbye.com Pretty much newer camaro and corvette brakes.
