LS1 but also in general

Got myself the front calipers from a '98 Firebird. One problem that emerged right away was, neither Kragen nor Napa carry the caliper rebuild kit. However CarQuest does, took them some time to find it though. For those who ever need it, the part number is 41168. I believe it's made by Dorman.

I have a few questions, regarding LS1 brake conversion, but also calipers and rotors in general. Did quite a bit of searching already, some things are still not clear to me.

1) Can I use C5 rotors with LS1 calipers ? Or are C5 rotors and LS1 rotors the same exact size ? Am I confusing them with the C4 HD rotors, that are 13 inch diameter but thinner ?

2) Anyone ever tried running with polished calipers ? How bad does it get ? I know they have a few, very few, clear coats that don't turn yellow, but I doubt they're made to be used with brake calipers. If not polished, anyway I can paint them to match the body ? It's the teal metallic.

3) Are there any pictures/drawings of the LS1 conversion bracket ? Or is it the same one as the C5 bracket ?

4) Pads ... are there any pads that really bite and are cheap ? Brake dust and noise would probably be something I could deal with, so not sure ... hmmm EBC Green pads ? I know the Hawk ceramic ones are supposed to be really good, but I'm trying to find something cheap, especially since I still have to buy/make the following:

Rotors
Pads
Brackets
Hubs
Spindle modification

Look on the FAQ board, there's a huuuge thread right there on just about everything you ever wanted to know about the LS1 brake upgrade.

I polished my calipers then powder coated them in candy red. Turned out pretty good, I think 1 or 2 other guys on here polished theres. I would look into something like Zoops sealer if I went just polished, it seals the aluminum and basically slows down the oxidization rate.

Here's some pics of mine:
