Has anyone tried this???

I know our brakes suck as a standard option from the factory. I have reaplced everything but my calipers andupgraded some stuff and my brakes still suck.

I was looking at an autoparts store sight that will show you all the vehicles a part will fit.
I looked up our front calipers and they matched alot of the regular everyday cars, Regal's, Malibu's etc from back then (I had an 84 Regal and it stopped alot better.)
The full size truck and Corvette were not the same (I know)
I looked up our master cylinder and our cars were the only ones hat rec'd it. Even our master cylinder rebuild kit was only for our cars.

Has anyone tried a Regal, Silverado or even a Corvette Master Cylinder on our cars to see if it will give us any better stopping power?
I could see one issue being the angle of the resevior between different parts.

I have never got rear disc thirgens to hook well and I have had a few.

Can you lock up your tires when braking?

Changing the M/C is going to change the pedal effort, but won't do much for the stopping power of the car.

Re: Has anyone tried this???

No, I cannot lock my brakes at all. The only thing left is adjusting the rear brakes by hand. The rotors, pads, hoses and m/c are all new. I bench bled the m/c before putting it on and pedal bled the brakes and then later I hooked up clear nylon line at the bleeder and into a tub filled with brake fluid and had someone push the pedal and made sure the fluid flushed from the m/c all the way to the bleeders in a form of bench bleeding the whole system. And they still suck.

I know Our brakes suck, but I would hope that the brakes would at least lock

Re: Has anyone tried this???

properly working, they will lock, i could lock all 4 wheels in my car bad when it was stock and it had rear drums!

You could always upgrade the brakes with late model camaro or vette brakes. Its a bit of work to do yourself, or you can buy kits. ebmiller here in tgo sells brake kits as well if you are interested in going this route.

As for masters, a 98-02 camaro/firebird master is almost a complete bolt on deal, just have to tweak the brake lines a little, nothing major.

Re: Has anyone tried this???

I put LS1 brakes on my 85 and the difference is beyond description. Quit dicking around with the Delco Moraine 4-wheel discs and do this or a Vette upgrade. You will be glad you did.
