What year did ABS brakes first appear on Camaro's??
Hello All,
Does anyone know what year anti-lock braking systems first appeared on Camaro's? I saw a 1990 5.7L IROC-Z for sale and the seller mentioned the car had ABS brakes. I thought ABS brakes weren't available until the 4th gens arrived, unless I am wrong on that. All replies are welcomed! Thank You & Happy New Year!
On another very sad note, the mother in law of one of my dearest & closest friends suddenly passed away last night (heart attack). Her family always treated me like one of their family from the day he started dating their daughter & later married her. My deepest sympathy & condolences go out to her husband, kids, grand kids and their entire family. I am grateful I got to see her and talk to her at her grand son's first birthday party last night.......She was only 57...RIP J, you will be sorely missed by many! Life is short people, enjoy every day you have and be thankful for those around you. Camaro's can be replaced, friends & family can not!

There were no thirdgens with ABS.

Thank for the response! That's what I thought...no third gen's w/ ABS...I think the first year for ABS may have been 1994 (the 2nd year of the 4th gens) which coincidentally is when the 4L60 transmission became the 4L60E...

well your suburban is 4 wheel drive and is counted as a truck that why it has abs

A surburban might only have rear-wheel ABS, too.

First off, sorry for your loss......I agree in every sense of the word to enjoy each day no matter what it brings......life is too short for regrets!
As far as ABS, 1993 was the first year. I've had both 92 and 93 F-cars and the 92 didn't have them, where the 93 does.
