Prop valve necessary?
Last yearI replaced the stock rear in my 88 IROC with a rear end out of a 98SS. Went from drums to discs. I think the car brakes just fine. What am I missing? Leave well enough alone? thanks

Re: Prop valve necessary?
Hey there! I see your from MN too. I have heard people say that the brakes work fine with the stock prop valve, but if you want the "right" pressure/volume i would put it in. So in short, no it is not necesary (spelling i know) but it might be beneficial.

If you put the right prop valve in, you will see for yourself the difference it makes.

Re: Prop valve necessary?
Replace the disc/drum prop valve with a disc/disc prop valve. Drum brakes use the volume of fluid, where as disc brakes use the pressure of the fluid. I may have these reversed. But the point is, Yes the rear discs will work with a disc/drum valve, but they will work better with a disc/disc valve.
