Brake Fluid

What is the best sem-affordable brake fluid to use? Baer recomends either Castrol or Performance Friction. The Castrol is $75 for one quart so that is out of the question. The Performance Friction is around $8-$9, but I cannot find it anywhere. Even the distributors they list on their website don't stock it anymore. I e-mailed them directly and they said they aren't currently making it. So what are the other options? Is there any real difference between the fluid commonly stocked at the parts stores?

For street driving any standard quality brake fluid is fine.

The key is changing it enuff.

Re: Brake Fluid

brake fluid draws in moisture like a sponge that is why brake lines rust from the inside out

Re: Brake Fluid

Go to your local ford dealership and get some. They only sell one kind. The price is good and the brake fluid is great.

I have run it in my track day car for years, with semi annual flushes, and never experienced fluid fade.

I have run it in my race car with 13 x 1.10 inch rotors and 4 1.75 piston willwoods under had race condition with no fluid fade. Braking from 140 mph to 30 mph on a 14 turn road course for 45 minutes without fluid fade.

I can not tell a difference between this and high dollar Willwood or Motul fluid.
