swapped in a 9 bolt disc rear in place of the old 10 bolt drum. got new proportioning valve. it brakes good. thinking the pads may need replaced soon. are the pads and rotors the same as the 10 bolt rear? if not where would i be able to find pads and rotors for my 9 bolt? thanks

Re: HELP: 9 bolt brake pads

I've read lots of discussion re: the 9 & 10 bolt rear disc set-ups.
and JamesC sounds like one of the better advisors here on the board.
That being said, I've got a 9 bolt, and a 10 bolt sitting in my garage,
that have completely different caliper/rotor set-ups. Best advice is
to find a competent counter-man (I've experienced chuckle-heads
at ALL the major chains), and take the old units along -- "Here, I
need new ones like this."

Good luck,
kk

Re: HELP: 9 bolt brake pads

As long as it's the same caliper type (cast iron or aluminum) they will be the same. The best way to get the correct pads is to take the old ones in, like was already mentioned.

Exactly. Delco-Moraines until 88, PBR's 89+. Both types can be found on 9- and 10-bolts.
