J65 BRAKES
my iroc has the rpo code j65 brakes. the fronts have a single piston caliper setup, the rear are pbr aluminum calipers. i need to repair the front brakes. the parts guy at o'reillys said the car came with dual piston alum calipers and i should upgrade to these. if i buy these will they fit. the remans are cardone 18-4343/44 and it includes hardware. so is this a easy swap and repair job.

Re: J65 BRAKES
You have to modify the spindle, buy 1LE rotors, and more. Here is a 1LE brake upgrade how-to: http://www.ws6transam.org/1LEbrake.html
If you want to go the brake upgrade route you may want to consider some other options link C4, LS1 brakes.

Re: J65 BRAKES
My car came with 11.67" rear with PBR aluminum calipers and 10.50" front with single piston iron caliper. I upgraded to C4 HD 13-inch front brakes. If you are interested in doing so click the link in my signature to my website, I have a full how-to there.

Re: J65 BRAKES
thanks, i already read your site and it is professionally done. so the auto parts guy is wrong then, i can't install the pbr front calipers without these mods. he did not mention the car needed a 1LE RPO to use these brakes. i guess i'll have to replace the regular calipers then.
