lt1 style brakes

I was wondering what exactly is the difference between the drum brake rears and the disc brake ones. Awhile ago i purchased a lt1 brake setup backing plates to rotor and thought i would be able to do the swap, by trimming the axle flange and using the lt1 style backing plate. I read some where that this isn't possible because of an axle difference? can someone please give a little insight on this.

Thanx alot

With the newer style rotors, you shouldn't have an issue. Check the following thread, post #13:

Rather than trimming the axle flange, you might consider Ed Miller's kit (the above link details the install):

Re: lt1 style brakes

Ok, so the axles are different so if i trim the flange bolt on the Lt1 style backing plate, Of course with the two extra bolt holes, and use the lt1 style rotors then then this will work? I understand the the kit being sold is an easy option but if this will work and i already have it it makes more sense to use my existing peices. esp since i dont plan on ever returning to drum brakes.

Have you seen the following (note the cutting of the axle flange):

Re: lt1 style brakes

Yes i have seen this, That was kinda what i was basing my swap off of but i wasn't sure of any differences with the lt1 to ls1 style. I just didn't want to miss anything, or rip my car apart only to find out that it wont work and end up needing ed's kit. thanks for the help.
