I got a 89 formula that i just replaced the passenger side control arm. And i had to replace the brake lines on the front. so i cant get the valves to unscrew from the caliper. now are they reverse? or regular? i cant get then to back out it is a 10mm right? that is the only wrench i could gert to fit. so........

Re: I cant bleed......

so the bleed screw on the caliper wont turn. try a 6 point wrench or socket to help not to round it. i've had them brake off. i just get some calipers from autozone. they are regular right hand thread.

Soak them with PB Blaster, let them soak a while, then try the above--might save you the price of new calipers. Oh, and sometimes a swift whack on the wrench with a dead blow is more effective and a steady pull.

Re: I cant bleed......

if the above does not work.. heat the BS with propane or map.. don't heat it to much
a 10mm socket is best. also tapping the ratchet with a hammer will allow it to break free

i would be REALLY cautios heating the brake system, its a closed system and will build pressure really quickly and could cause an explosion. I blew up the rear flex line on my 86 years ago doing this. I HIGHLY recommend not using heat.

I have done this many times.... but yes if you do not use extreme caution it is highly flammable..

Re: I cant bleed......

if you heat them up just leave lid on master cyl off...no pressure build up.also sometimes if you try to tighten them slightly before trying to loosen they will free up.

Re: I cant bleed......

k i dont know if anyone else has run into this problem, but maybe. So i got the valve to release finally, i let the car run a lil bit then jacked her up pulled the rims off and had my frnd press the pedal while i bleed them. I got them bled and then went to start it and it DIDNT start. Turns over freely, not ignition, wierd? that is what i thought and i stil cant figure it out. Cause it was running befor i bled them. Could my frnd have pressed the brake switch and it is like locked or something but then would that allow it to turn over? idk any ideas would be great thanks! i put lowering springs on the car so when it gets nice out ill post up some pics of my cars! any suggestions?

Re: I cant bleed......

when the pedal went to the floor... his foot may have hit a component under the steering column
a link to the neutral safety switch.. is what it sounds like
