Front brakes locking up??
Front brakes locking up??
I have been working on my 82 berlinetta for about the last year or so and finnaly have it able to be moved around. So I go out on the street with it and get on the gas so I can check the setting on my secondaries. Well when I touch the brakes the fronts just about lock up and the car does a nasty nose dive.
Now my question is could this just be caused by air in the front lines? or maybe a bad master cylinder? I am wanting to try and fix the problem without just blindly throwing parts at it.
Thanks
Robert

Sounds like a bad or sticky reaction valve in the booster. If it is sticking it may free up with some use. Otherwise will need to replace the brake booster.
The other thing is the front rotors. Are they possibility badly rusted from sitting? This would cause an increase in friction that could make the brakes touchy.

Re: Front brakes locking up??
I had a similar problem with just the front right/passengerside. Happened after I had the car sit for like 3 months. The caliper was locking up. For me it was the brake hose that goes directly from the line to the caliper. Changed that and havent had a problem since. You might wanna check into this since its really cheap. Then again your saying both are locking up, so I dont know if both hoses would mess up at the same time. But who knows.
