4th gen swap e-brake problem
well folks im in a strange situation here. i seemed to swap my rear end to a more popular 4th gen rear(drums to disk). i have everything needed, the rear end went in like it belonged there, got the rotors re-surfaced, bought new brake pads and got custom e-cables from HAWK assuming a easy ride to glory, right!?.. well im starting on this project and am allready having my headaches! my e-brake doesnt work!! how so! i've tightened the cables that engage and dis-engage the brakes and nothing! BTW the cables were an exact fit... i even rolled the tire and pulled the e brake, and nothing! ! i went far enough to remove the rotor and went in there and tried to adjust it but NOTHING! except when i slightly move the rotor outward is when it really bites! but fully placed in. nothing!my buddy even pulled the e-brake and the pads slightly moved, are the cables not tight enough? im looking at the cables and are almost completely pulled. my only option that i can think of is to buy new parking shoes.. so im looking online and a set of these suckers are about 100 bucks!! im just wondering if i missed anything else that i might have missed before i pop 100$? any options would be great!
BTW what do you guys think of autozone brake pads? (duralast) i've heard stories of these boys wearing out pre-maturely. anyone has some stories? i heard o'reily is a good brand and of course, napa.. havent got a price on those suckers yet.. would it be advisable for me and anyone else to buy pads from these guys (AUTOZONE)?
THANKS!
i dont know if this helps but the guy i bought it from claims that it was in a accident, could the parking brake cause damage or pads or even the mechanisms break if it was being moved around with the e-brake on? what would i need to replace? just the pads?? dont wanna take it to a brake shop to charge me some crazy amount for something simple like pads!
ohh and it dont have an engine so i cant get quotes. in progress of an ls1 swap..

Apparently, there's an internal adjuster on the LS1 set-up (check post #6 of the link below):

Re: 4th gen swap e-brake problem
thanks james! i looked at it and seemed pretty straight forward.
i decided to bite the bullet and buy me some new parking shoes from o'reilys, 97$ see how well the brands they carry are.. soon after i replaced the shoes and test them out.. long and behold, they dcided to bite with fury.. so i got e-brakes now! i checked out the haynes manual and recomened on replacing brake shoes that are less than .15 inches thick (i think). the ones that were on it were .09, they needed replacing..

If you ever buy brakes pads from Autozone, go with their Duralast Golds or their new Duralast Gold C-Max pads. I've had good luck with those brake pads, not their regular Duralast pads.
