The one they have listed is incorrect.

the one required is the round part on the ground next to the caliper in the below picture,

Re: ReArEnD

Does he need the backing plate or the caliper bracket to attach the caliper to the backing plate? Zepher is right, Auto Zone does not carry the backing plate, but they do carry the caliper bracket. I searched but couldn't find anywhere that does have the backing plates separate from the whole system. Ed Miller on this site (ebmiller) sells a kit, they can also be found on e-Bay where I bought my kit.

Re: ReArEnD

83,

If you're unaware, the swap requires much more than just a caliper swap. Of course, you'll need rotors, but also custom parking brake cables and a disc combination valve (the 1LE is recommended); however, since your 83 combination valve very likely has SAE threads and has different line provisions from the metric that you'll need, the situation may become difficult. Then, because you've swapped rear ends and perhaps gear ratios, there's the speedo problem. Also, swapping the backing plate will require axle removal. More info and pics in the following link toward the bottom:

as far as I remember, the backing plate is the caliper bracket, it's not separate, but it might be. it's been a long time since I took my brakes off.

Re: ReArEnD

This is the piece I linked to from Auto Zone. Might be considered part of the caliper by some, but it attaches to the backing plate and holds the pads and caliper in place.

And this is finished, minus lines and cables.

Re: ReArEnD

I consider that part of the caliper myself.

Re: ReArEnD

For the 1LE set-up, the manual calls it, Plate, Anchor-LH or -RH. The common term seems to be caliper carrier or perhaps abutment bracket. When you order calipers from parts stores, sometimes they come with the above, sometimes not--at least that's been my experience. Again 1LE, Backing plate to axle flanges, calipers carrier to backing plate:

Check post #25 for a pic of the LS1 set-up:
