leaky master cylinder
when i bought the car the master cildender was dry in one reservoir and the other was about partly full, well i bought some brake fluid and topped it off, well all of a sudden my brake peddle got really hard to push down and im losing brake fluid again, well i had the hood popped today and had my step dad pushing on the brakes while i was watching for leaks, i found it, it was up near the top of the master cylinder, well i tightend the bolt up and now i cant push my brake pedal down at all, what could cause this?
by the way the car isnt running.

Re: leaky master cylinder
well the pedal is going to be stiff, and only get stiffer with out the car running. The more you pump it up, the harder it will get, until you give the booster vacuum.
Re: leaky master cylinder
If you're talking about the two bolts that attach the master cylinder to the brake booster, than I would assume it's leaking into the brake booster. Those bolts only seal the cylinder to the brake booster, but there shouldn't be any fluid coming out of the rear of the master cylinder at all. If that is indeed the case you should replace the master cylinder and brake booster.
