Help Please

My brakes don’t seem to work all that great to me. Here’s what I have a 92 Z28 disc and drum car that has been changed to the 88 cast iron rear disc brakes. A 92 rear disc combo. valve I don’t think it’s a 1le. I have fixed the calipers with the GM replacement pistons. Cross drilled rotors with performance faction brake pads. and a line lock between the master cylinder and combo. valve. The car seems to have a hard pedal but takes to long to stop on the first stop. After repeated hard stops the front brakes start working great and will lock up under the hard braking. I would like to get the most of what I have on the car all ready.

If you have a 92 rear disc combination valve, it's the so-called 1LE valve (so-called because all 89-92 rear disc cars were equipped with PBR's and larger rotors). With the standard Delco-Moraine calipers and smaller rotors, the standard valve is normally used--though it won't fit your 92 application. The bias in GM valves apparently increases from drum to standard disc to 1LE.

I've read that performance pads often require heating before they function at their best.
