bumping into staging beams

i have a 85 camaro z28 an after the burnout as i roll into the beams,i put on the first light an then pump the brakes an start stalling an let off the brake pedal slowly an the car won't creep forward like my 55 does,it suddenly rolls all at once after the pedal is raised about a 1/2'".it has new calipers and front hoses with power brakes an a crane vacuum booster can.just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?just seems like the calipers don't release slow, just all at once.

Re: bumping into staging beams

Don't try to force yourself into the beams. Stop when you turn on the prestage beam then gently release the brake and roll into the stage beam. Stop as soon as the stage light comes on unless you want to try deep staging. I doubt you're using a pro tree and launching off really high rpm. You have plenty of time to come up on the converter after the stage light comes on. You don't need to do it at the prestage bulb.

Re: bumping into staging beams

so you are saying don't stall up till the 2nd stage bulb is lit.i will try that at test an tune to get used to it because i would hate to be watching the tach to 2000 an all of a sudden the tree starts counting down .i like you idea,it makes sense, thanks a lot for your help.

Re: bumping into staging beams

Have you tried staging the car at a lower RPM and bump in like you talked about

Re: bumping into staging beams

haven't been back to the track yet.it just seems like the car won't ease in to the lights, like the brakes won't let go slow, kinda all at once.hard to describe,my son thought it was me till he deepstaged trying to ease in also.its not pushing through the brakes like trying to stall to much,it just finally moves after the brake pedal has moved up a whole lot.it just started this but we'll keep practicing or maybe we'll install a new master cylinder or maybe put on manual brakes if i can find a way to run without a booster.
