quirky handbrake

Hey guys, well the handbrake in my car only seems to work half the time. Sometimes when I yank it up, it just goes up all the way without engaging the brakes (car still rolls), and sometimes it'll go all the way up and engage the brakes, and other times it'll go up about half way and engage the brakes. Whats going on? And when it does grab, it barely does so.

And it's a drum rear end btw... for now.

Re: quirky handbrake

jack up the car and check the tunnel connection. Its possible the cable has too much slack in it and its falling out of the guided on the sides of the tunnel.
