Locked Up Font Passenger Side Brake Caliper
Locked Up Font Passenger Side Brake Caliper
I just recently fixed my tranny so that it actually shifts into gear, so I was just working it in my driveway (it's not on the road yet), everything was working fine until the front passenger side brake caliper suddenly locked up. Now it's stuck. Any suggestions as to how to release it so I can get it back up the driveway? (it's down near the end and sorta blocking off my family's other cars)

if it's just to move it, I'd disconnect (or just loosen enough to relive pressure) the soft line from the hard line which could be done w/o taking the wheel off. If that didn't do it, popping the wheel off and trying to physically push the caliper piston back in (screwdriver, small pry bar, etc) to release the pads from the rotor would be my two thoughts to just be able to move it a short distance.

more likely than not the internals on your brake hose have failed . they can/will collapse causing a check valve . its a VERY common problem . replace the brake flex line and you should be o.k. . it happened to me but i changed calipers also . a good time to change both rt. & lt. hoses . it is a common problem with older vechicles . it also happened to my old 89 dodge P/U . BTW the ones on our cars are keyed lt. & rt. to the brackets where the hard lines attach . change lines and bleed you will be good to go . good luck .

I've run into a similar problem to this w/ 2 of my previous thirdgens. Brake hoses always fix the issues I've had.
