Modified LS1 calipers, bad?

I have found LS1 calipers that were modified to to fit 15" skinny rims. They come with good pads and good rotors. Would this be a good buy? It looks like the modification was done well, but it is definately much thinner on the outside.

I already have a set of calipers, but it looks like someone put a 15" wheel on that side without clearancing the caliper so it has some rubbing damage from the fins all the way out and I dont think I will get a core return for it.
