master cylinder
Im looking for a good stock replacement for my 86 iroc, the one that is on the car now is original and since im redoing the brakes (ls1 swap) i want everything new. I do not want to replace the master with a iron autozone repro pos. Gm parts direct wants 180 for it and id rather not spend THAT much... anyone know of a decent stock replacement or good aftermarket one that will work?
Also Im getting new stainless hard lines and im trying to find steel braided lines. Does anyone know of a place that sells the steel braided?

Summit sells the braided lines. Any speed shop near you should be able to get them as well.
What's wrong with an auto zone master? Not really a whole lot in there to get wrong.

Re: master cylinder
Anyways, i looked on summit. they only offer one set for my car and it has 3 lines. does not specify what ones im assuming the front and the one to the rear axel. Ill keep looking but am still open for suggestions.
The problem with the autozone master cylinder is its made of some other kind of metal besides aluminum and if its going to be a stock replacement it should be the same material. Not to mention i dont want it to rust in 4 months and look like crap.

Re: master cylinder
All the stainless braided line kits are going to have three lines. Thats all there is. The two to the front and one to the back. What exactly are you looking for? If your looking for the hard line, I doubt you'll find pre bent pieces to buy new.

Re: master cylinder
Ok i didnt know braided lines only came in sets of 3... considering there are 5 soft lines on a 4 wheel disc car. I found pre-bent stainless steel hard lines. those were easy to find. www.getdiscbrakes.com

Re: master cylinder
no, there are 3 pc flex line kits and 5 pc ones for rear disc cars with the pbr brakes. i suppose there would be a 4 pc kit too for the iron caliper setups.
earls, russel, and some others all made the kits, but form some reason they are increasingly hard to find. hench why im converting my car to all AN flares and just using universal AN lines.
