Brake troubles conversion

Hi i got an 86 trans am parts car with 5 speed and posi disc rear end. Completed the 5 speed but found problems with the rear end. The mounting bolts are the same for the rear end but all brake components were quite destroyed. i cannot mount my drums on the posi rear end the axles have 4 bolts holding the axle in and pressed on seals n bearings. All of the kits i have seen are with only 2 bolts holding the backing plate for the discs does anyone know of a different kit available? or can i just drill holes? the guts of the 2 rear end are completely different but the mounts are all the same.

Thanks Dave

Re: Brake troubles conversion

That's because it's a 9 Bolt Rear end. Do a search and you will find tons of info on it the majority where 7.5"/ 10 bolts but there are alot of cars with 9 bolts on them.

Verify whether you have a 9- or 10-bolt. All disc rear ends that I'm familiar with have four bolts securing the backing plate to the axle end (drums have two). Attempting to swap drums to a disc rear would require some work as the axle ends are different. That process can be seen in the following link toward the end:
