84-85 Brake Lines vs. 86-92 Brake Lines

I am in the process of ordering new brake lines for my 84 Berlinetta. The rear is getting changed over to a PBR 9 bolt from an 89 IROC. I know the differences in the 82-83 lines and prop valves, but was wondering why there are 84-85 lines and 86-92 lines? Are the differences cosmetic or is there a reason why I cant just order lines for the 89 even though they are going on a 84?

There have been reports of the old-style SAE cast iron combination valve being used as late as 85, though the 85, at least in some cases, is metric. My 85 is equipped with the new-style alum valve.

Re: 84-85 Brake Lines vs. 86-92 Brake Lines

I just looked at mine today and turns out it has the old iron style prop valve. I ordered the first design 1LE prop valve from Ed, and new lines from Classic Ind. for the 86-92 years. I just hope the routing/bends are not the different from the 84-85 style.
