Sensitive brakes

I drive an 88 camaro sport coupe with LO3 v8. My brakes seem extremely sensitive at times. sometimes they give me such problems that the right front will lock up at times when im just trying to stop at a stop sign. Do i just need new pad and rotors? And if so whats a good performance replacement? Or is there a bigger problem?

Re: Sensitive brakes

Sounds like you have a driver front caliper issue - maybe the piston is froze and not working properly. I'd tear the caliper off (don't remove the rubber line just yet), and see if you can move the piston inwards (with a large C-clamp).

Re: Sensitive brakes

The flex line itself might well be the culprit.

Re: Sensitive brakes

This '86 Camaro I just bought is doing about the same thing. Both fronts will lock the tires if I want, but for normal braking, it seems the right front grabs sooner and better than the left front.
I checked the tire pressures, I replaced the rotten-looking RF rubber brake hose, I bled both front brakes, no improvement.
It's a little bit worrisome, and I definitely need it resolved before winter, even if I can get it inspected and registered this way. My temp tag expires soon, too.
