proportioning valve mod/ which 1 is truly correct?

I have an 88 formula with a 4th gen disc brake conversion on the rear. My question is which mod to the proportioning valve is actually correct. I have read many many many posts on here and by just googling to figure this out and it seems to be a 50/50 so far depending on where you look.

1st mod is the removal of the spring and plunger all together. This is how my car was when i originally bought it from previous owner.

2nd mod is to install a stiffer spring into the pv. I have currently done this because i didnt feel the rear breaks where working as well as they should or maybe even at all.

I will be purchasing a wilwood pv this week anyhow regardless of which of these 2 is correct but now I have to find out which is correct otherwise it will drive me nutty.

Also lets not turn this into what many other posts have been where people state that it is a suspension issue or chassis or any other type of fault of the car why the brakes may or may not work.. I just want a true answer from someone that actually knows 100% the correct way these pv's work and which mod is correct.

you'll want to change the spring if you swapping from drum to disk, not remove it. the spring rate is what changes the rear bias. without any spring in place, you're rears will not be doing anything.
