Lets talk prop valves

I was under the impression the whole prop valve had to change for a disk conversion. I happen to have both disk and drum to examine so i opened them up to see

The body itself appears to be identical, only the valve itself changed. Comparing the springs, they seem the same stiffness even though they are visually different. Only diff I can spot is the spring seat location on the valve itself. Seems any drum prop valve can be converted to disk simply by swapping to a stiffer spring

Any thoughts?

Re: Lets talk prop valves

A disc/drum combo valve should also have a metering valve for the front lines. This is to hold off the fronts until some pressure is built in the rear lines. This is to spread the braking effort between the fronts & rears.

Pull the front sections of the valves apart. There should be a difference between them.

I checked the '92 FSM and there isn't any diagrams of the combo valves.

RBob.
