Real 1le spindles or modified standard spindles?

I found a guy selling 1le spindles and I want to make sure they are the real thing. They have casting flash and the surfaces do not look like they have been cut. The finish has that wrinkle-rough look. Any advice? How much are they worth? Thx.

IIRC, from what anyone has been able to tell, real 1LE spindles are cut-down standard spindles.

That makes sense but the surfaces where you cut to modify them is not smooth. A modified cast form might have been cheaper than paying a worker and wasted material.

the spindle has concaved dimples also. I don't think standard spindles had them.

IIRC, chazman, actually purchased new 1LE spindles some time ago. Perhaps a PM to him would answer your questions.

Re: Real 1le spindles or modified standard spindles?

I have 1LE spindles and to me it "looks" like GM modified a stock spindle to make a mold for the 1LE spindle.
It has a cast look to the areas that would normally have the cut look of a normal spindle..

I believe that the cast look and the concave dimples are OE. I wonder if GM ran out of them later and decided to modify the standard spindle to meet demand.
