Proportioning Valve Tags Identification

Hey guys, fighting a battle with really weak engagement of my PBR rear disc conversion in my '88 GTA. I'm thinking about swapping in what I bought as an '89 1LE Prop valve about a year ago off the boards. I'd like to make sure it's really a PBR/1LE valve before I go to the trouble of swapping though. I'm attempting to identify this thing based on some sort of numbering, marking, or tag, is there such a way to do this?

I looked at the three prop valves that I have, and they all are marked with a tag on the rear rubber plug. I have an '87 Formula (rear drum), '88 GTA (rear discs), and a supposed '89 1LE valve.

The '87 Formula (rear drum) tag reads "NC", and it is also stamped into the side of the prop valve.

The '88 GTA (rear disc) tag reads "NB", and it is also stamped into the side of the prop valve.

The supposed '89 1LE tag also reads "NB", with a corresponding stamp in the side of the prop valve.

Does anyone know if this tag actually designates which prop valve you have? If it does, I think I got the wool pulled over my eyes when I bought the supposed 1LE. Can someone with an original 89 rear disc car check there prop valve and see what tag it has or what is stamped into the side?

Thanks for the help!

30cal_Sniper, I've asked this question myself and was told by several members that there is no way to tell what a PV is by the numbers stamped on them. Semper Fi.

For what's worth, my new prop valve, from Ed Miller, has NB on it.
My guess is it is a 1LE valve.

Re: Proportioning Valve Tags Identification

Seems as if Ed Miller himself once said that there was no outward indication of what the valves is. My 1LE valve--part number 14089496 (first design) purchased from GM, starts with ND, so....

Re: Proportioning Valve Tags Identification

The 1989 TTA's have ND on them with the 1LE brake setup ... ND is also what the assembly line work sheets calls for when they built the cars (just so they picked the correct one and put it on the car) ...

Barcode on that one reads 579496 .... so last 4 matches the part number JamesC posted. And I know that is the 1st design based on the threads for the lines I had to get for mine.
