Spindles

Are base firebird spindles the same as a t/a or car with thR 1le package? I would assume upgrading the brakes wouldn't be as easy as changing rotors/calipers/hoses/pads to the better package?

Spindles are all the same with the exception of the 1LE spindles, which are OE spindles with the ears cut off. You're correct. Bigger brakes require a spindle modification. Some links below offer insight:

Re: Spindles

Member Ed saying once there was a slight difference. 89 up having a thicker casting somewhere. Don't remeber where but that made me decide to use mine.

Some discussion about differences in the following link. AndyZ28 noted that the difference was around the bosses but that the difference wasn't worth the attempt to locate 89+ spindles (when upgrading to 1LE's).
