On the backing plate there is (was in ur case) the center ring that slides over the knuckle of the spindle. It centers itself on the spindle and u bolt it down. Well I was referring to just the center section that "protects" the back of the hub from debris and road grime. My thought was to cut just the center off the backing plate and reuse it for extra protection. I'm not sure that I trust just that little rubber lip on the back to protect the bearings.
I will try and get some pics up this weekend for you on my setup. I went thru and replaced all steering components, swapped in poly bushings on the a-arms and sway bar. Then I blasted and undercoated the a-arms, when I get back home from ur neck of the woods, I will remount the a-arms, install Moog constant rate springs, get the spindle back on and try to complete the rest of the brake job.

That is looking good. Do you happen to have pictures of the wheels? I always like to see 19's on these cars.
Also, I'm sure that wasn't a final install picture, but you have your one caliper on the wrong side.

Thank you. Pics of the actual.wheel is coming this weekend.. similiar to yours. As for the caliper being on the wrong side, I pulled the lines and fittings off when they were powdercoated. I put them back on the wrong.ends of.the caliper. I fixed them already. When I get back hopefully I can get the wheels on for a few shots.

You can't have too much brakes - in terms of piston count, pad size, and rotor size; that is for darn sure.

Yeah, school has really killed my progress this year. Fortunately that is done for the summer next week. Going back to school while working was a bad idea. 
I am hoping to run Silverstate this year, but stuff keeps coming up and I have a lot of projects to finish.

The CTS-V uses 14.5 but I'm pretty sure the Camaro and others used the 14".. are you 100% certain?

Ur set up is coming along very nicely. I would gladly like some help with devising a e-brake setup for my 9 bolt. It sucks when u are so used to pulling it after you park or on hills and now its no longer avail.

So you are using the 2010 SS rear calipers and rotors? And want to add the e-brake?

Regarding the 9 bolt. The 9 bolt bracket should be very similar to my 10/12 bolt bracket. The 9 bolt flange is pretty similar. I happen to have a 9 bolt laying around. I'll see if I can work something up this weekend.

Dude, u are awesome!! Thanks a million. I felt the same about their website. And although I was originally looking at HREs in the same style, the price diff was about 250 a wheel. So I took a chance. I'm happy with the outcome.

Sorry about the delay. I was working on a set of brackets for someone else with a ford differential. I should have some time this week to take a look at the 9 bolt.

A local shop I do a lot of business with is turning a 2011 CTS-V into a track only car. They are upgrading the brakes on this car front and rear and are looking to sell the stock brakes. This car has only 6000 miles on it. Their are looking to get $1100 for everything. I think that is a great price and wanted to see if anyone here wanted them.
My cost matrix shows the retail price on all the parts to be $2209 if you shop around for the best prices.
Let me know if anyone is interested.

It is crazy - anything that size is just a lot of weight to swing around, plus they will never be able to get enough tire under it to make it work optimally...

Well, I think I'm going insane. Picked up a Corvette ZR1 caliper to play around with for testing some brake kits, see the link below. Anyway, of course I slapped them inside my wheel and fell in love. I don't have the carbon rotor as they are big money, but this is where the caliper would mount with the 15.5" rotor.

For more information, the ZR1 caliper is very similar to the gen II CTS-V caliper. It is about 1.5" longer caliper body than the CTS-V. And of course it has the Vette mounting lugs.

I think it would be pretty functional setup not for looks anything above a 4 piston setup is overkill for a strictly street car but the more brakes the better IMO so bring it
Then again people would buy a fisker karma and think they have a supercar now that's just for looks

There are a few reasons for this setup. First and most importantly, this car gets tracked. I am a huge fan of low maintenance dual duty track/street use. While the kit is generally considered overkill for a 3500lb 3rd gen, it allows me to run a very friendly street pad on the track without needing to change pads when I get to the track. This also explains my obsession with lock wire and torque seal. It takes almost no time for me to nut and bolt my car before and after each track day. It is primarily a visual check. I am also a stickler for brake pedal feel. The feel of this kit should be exactly what I want, a moderate effort, short travel pedal.

But as John said, on the track, larger kits do offer some advantages in terms of pads and also thermal radiation. But then you have cost and wheel size considerations to accomodate...
