Brake system clean out help needed
Brake system clean out help needed
Long story short I got a new to me '90 iroc 350tpi, with new pads & rotors all around still didn't feel the pedal was where it should be so I deceided to bleed the brakes and found what looked like muddy pond water complete with sediment in the mc. Cleaned that out as best I could and with new fluid started at the r.rear to bleed, of coarse I'm not getting anything out of the bleeder so after reading a lot here I'm going to replace rubber lines and clean out system.
Here's my ?'s do I pull the old rubber and let the "pond water" drain out while I wait for the new lines to come in, fill the system with new fluid and bleed or is there some kind of procedure I need to follow? What about some other kind of fluid to run thru the system that would clean the hard lines?
Never had to deal with a problem like this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Brake system clean out help needed
Seem to be fixed, the no fluid coming out at bleeder anyway. I took the lines off a both calipers and both were gravity flowing fluid pretty well so I ran fluid until it was clean then hooked lines up and bled from bleeders using the two man method. It stops ok now and it may just be me but it seems the pedal travel is excessive, not overly excessive, just more than I'm us to.
So how much pedal travel should you have with a fresh brake job?
