Rear Discs, SSBC or Right Stuff Detailing?

Hi Guy’s,

Ok so I’ve decided that my rear drums on my Firebird have to go! The park brake has never held well and this year she failed her MOT just on the park brake alone not working. It’s never worked properly since I bought her 12 years ago, everything’s been changed from the cables to the drums and shoes, nothing’s worked.

So after fitting Willwoods to the front I’ve decided to go for a drum to disc conversion kit for the rear, I’ve looked at the Right Stuff Detailing RSD-AFXDS78 brake disc conversion kit and the SSBC –A125-46 kit but don’t know which would be the best to have. Would these be the correct kits for my 91 Bird and has anyone got any of these to give me an idea which one to have?

With the car being laid up over winter as usual I’m looking at taking my time fitting the kit. Also my garage in on a slope so I’m wanting to block the front wheels and use the slope to give me better access under the rear of the car as I’m going to have to remove the whole rear axle to remove the half shafts as I don’t have enough space either side of the car to remove them to get the brake back plates off!

Any ideas are appreciated,

Speed.
