i cant seem to get a straight answer on this one. I have a 1991 rs and i recently put a 9 bolt in my car with cast iron calipers. it used to be drums so i have to change over the cables. does anyone have this swap done? i need to know what cables i need and which parts i need. any help would be really appreciated

One solution is to swap to PBR's. (You'd have better brakes and an easy solution to the parking brake cable problem.) There are only two lengths for PBR's: 1st design, 1434 mm and 2nd design 1460 mm. According to Ed Miller, the longer cable was designed for cars with no adjustment provision in the tunnel. I used the shorter one in my 85 because of the tunnel adjustment.

I did the swap you are contemplating years ago on my 90 RS 'vert. I did swap the parking brake from an earlier (pre 89) car so it has the parking brake adjuster JamesC describes. I also bought new cables for each side. For some reason I had to cut off a spiral wound shroud from around the cable at the end where it mounts to the calipers. I used a dremel tool and a fiber-reinforced cutoff wheel. Be careful and keep it cool while you cut off that spiral of metal since the cable inside is covered with plastic which will melt if overheated. I had a lot of trouble with sealing one of the brake lines for some reason I can't recall. I was leaking brake fluid and the brake switch on the combination valve kept indicating brake failure (correctly). Once I got the brake line properly sealed a stiff push of the brake pedal re-set the brake switch.
I agree swapping to the PBR brake calipers would be simpler, but costlier. You'd also need the proper backing plates, parking brake cables, brake lines, and rotors. I can't recall if you can get by by using your existing backing plates, but simply swapping them to the opposite side and re-drilling them to mount the PBS calipers. Someone else will have to confirm this.
