Right Hand Drive - Master Cylinder Hard Lines hitting strut tower

Hi,

I live in Australia and have a 1988 IROC which has been converted to Right Hand Drive. As part of the conversion the Brake booster and master cylinder have been moved across to the other side of the firewall.

The problem I have now is that the master cylinder hard lines exit towards the strut tower and hot the strut cap.

I need more camber adjustment for a front end alignment, but can't move the strut cap any further in because it is hard up against the brake hard lines (pictures attached).

Has anyone seen something like a 90 deg brake line adapter that would give me more clearance?

Any suggestions?

By the time you muck around with fittings to gain minimal clearance, i would suggest you look for an alternative master cylinder($100-$200 at a guess) to put the outlets on the opposite side, or if you know a good brake mob can that can modify the master to put the fittings on the opposite side(just depends on master, most usually allow fittings for either side).

I had the same issue with the original setup and also with the hydraulic booster setup, hence why i went with a master that puts the lines on the engine side.

Thanks for the reply.

That's an option I've been considering, but holding off on as it's a new MC and the big bore model too. Might have to fish around for the same model with outlets on the other side.

Another option I've thought about is getting a later model Commodore booster, which is supposed to be thinner, so that it move the MC toward the firewall and away from the strut tower.

I'm amazed this was passed as road-worthy when originally converted.

I'm surprised how most converted ones passed considering the issues they have.
You'd still be better off with a master change vs booster, least you don't have to worry about working on connecting it to the pedal, Its only a small brake line change/re route. Tho if your willing to put the effort in long term commodore booster would be better. I've got one here spare if you want it also. VZ unit, the masters you can get cheap to suit.
