hey all,i've got an 87 Iroc with rear drums.i know that there a metric and sae thread wheel cylinders available for these year cars.my question is has anyone run into a metric wc on one side and an sae on the other?bc that's just what
i've got on my roc.just wondering if this a normal thing or what?
Which is exactly why I'm asking if anyone has run into this before.Fwiw,Rockauto and Autozone both show metric OR sae threads thru 1989 my.Anything is possible of course, but it does'nt appear as though the brakes have been apart before...
I have an 84 z28 h.o. which appears to be an all original 40k mile car that has been owned by the same owner for the last 30 years and my right rear wheel cylinder started to leak. as I pulled the assembly apart the rear cylinder looks different than any aftermarket cylinder the car calls for and I cant find a replacement anywhere. here are pics of the cylinder I pulled off nay help would be great. as far as I know the car is completely original.
Huh.that looks to be a big thread, bigger than 3/8-24 or 10x1.0 for sure.I guess thats what you're referring to.Otherwise it looks just like a regular old wheel cylinder(unless of course I'm missing something)...But it shows to be the same wheel cylinder as my car...
Was i you,I would find a NAPA and see what they show. And don't forget you need to replace both wheel cylinders.

Thanks for the reply. The problem I'm having can be seen here. every place I have gone to find a replacement cylinder for the camaro have all had these "ears" on them for this model car. And they do not fit correctly. I can't find one similar to mine anywhere.
In what way does it not fit? Can't recall anything about these brakes that would interfere with that. Looks like a typical "universal" adaptation, where it fits MULTIPLE applications instead of requiring multiple part numbers to fit them all.
Show us a pic of the cyl up against the backing plate, from the shoe side. No shoes or hardware of course.
Solution might be as simple as taking a wizz wheel to the "ears".
