Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

What's up? It's been YEARS since I've posted - and also YEARS since I've driven my car.

10+ years ago, I've put on a Baer Claw Front Sport and Rear Tour system on. I believe these are the same systems:

Front:
http://www.hawksmotorsports.com/brak...-or-13-rotors/

Rear:
http://www.hawksmotorsports.com/brak...e-upgrade-kit/

The fronts use 12" x 1.100" rotors, and the rears use 12" x .810" rotors. PBR Calipers on both.

If I would have known the fronts use a cut-down C4 HD 13" rotor, I wouldn't have gotten it and have to be tied to custom BAER rip-off parts.

THAT all being said, do any of you know what my options are at this point? The closest thing I can find for "off the shelf" parts is the stock C4 HD 13"x1.1" rotor. I know the bolt pattern is the same. Is the hub dia.?

Would I just need C4 13" brackets to make the calipers fit?
http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i56.html

Or does it use different calipers too?

Believe it or not, I've drove the car so rarely, the pads are still on there and I've never replaced. For "off the shelf" pads, I'm assuming I use C4 fronts and 93-97 F-Body Rears?

I'd really like to get rid of, or modify this setup, as it really locks you down in terms of flexibility.

Thanks for any info any of you can provide!

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

Not sure about the rest, but the pads are just Hawk's pads. I can get the p/n off the box if you need it.

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

Part numbers would be great. However, I was more interested in "off the shelf" pad/rotor equivalents...but Hawks is fine too.

Hopefully someone can chime in on the rest.

Thanks!

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

There were, in the past, some 13" setups from Baer that would work in some 16" GM wheels. And I totally believe in parts availability by upgrading to factory style parts. So you're on a great direction.

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

The 13 inch track or sport system with obr caliper is nothing more than a blingy c4 j55 system. C4 hd j55 rotors and abutments... all you need

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

Thanks for the info! So with the C4 HD rotors, the caliper is the same as my current? It just uses a different caliper carrier? Or both the carrier and bracket (to spindle)?

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

no, just the carrier (abutment) The 12" one is a cut down one (or 1LE one, depending on what they used), the 13" one just has the holes down lower. The mustang has the same one, just M10 threads instead of M12

This is the C4 HD J55 abutment

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

That helps a lot! Thanks!

I'm not sure this applies, but why would it be that there are different hubs for C4 standard and C4 HD rotors apparently?

Standard:
http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i137.html

HD:
http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i145.html

According to this list I found, it has different part numbers for nearly everything for both the 12" and 13" setups.

http://lukeskaff.com/projects/car/th.../part-numbers/

Maybe it doesn't apply in my circumstance, since I'm starting with the Baer kit already?

Thanks again for your help and clarifying things!

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

Post a pic of your setup. Baer used cut down rotors and redrilled abutments

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

Courtesy of CRITT's post, this is basically what I have - albeit the 12" version. Not sure if this helps or not. Maybe best bet would be to get a 13" rotor from Autozone etc. and see how it fits?

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

Found pic of a 12 inch abutment. This was for a baer ford setup hence the smaller bokts... see the hokes drilled up further and tabs removed

Re: Baer Rotor Conversions - Stock Parts?

I see! So the abutments that "fit" are based on the hat size of the rotor? I read multiple threads, 1LE ones being curved (I think) to clear the rotor hat. I'm not sure what BAER used as a hub...turned down rotors?

Came across your thread from years ago:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...ont-brake.html

Seems like this was previously discussed. It indeed looks like it's just the abutments that need to be swapped ed for the 13's.

For the rears, stock C4 12"x.081" rotors - and Vette pads all around?

Probably thinking about this too much without looking at the setup to further see the issues, haha. I think I'll just take your advice and try and find the HD Abutments.
