4th gen LSx brake question

Because I know you guys have done numerous swaps with LSx brakes.

I've a '97 LT1, the T56 is going into my kid's '89-don't ask why she doesn't want the LT1...sigh...but question is, I'd like to upgrade the brakes on the '89 to '98+ brakes. Are the caliper mounts, hubs, etc, the same on the '97 as the '89+? I figure if say I could just bolt on '98 rotors and calipers to the '97, then I have patterns here to make stuff fit for the '89.

Make sense? Or confusing?

Re: 4th gen LSx brake question

There is definitely some cutting you will need to do if you are planning on keeping the rear out of the '89. LS1 has different backing plates than LT1 did so you'll need to track those down first if you want to do the swap. The easiest and honestly probably most cost efficient way is to track down an LS1 rear that already has discs. I just had to track down a set of backing plates (discontinued) on eBay and they were almost $240 shipped with caliper brackets. They were very good condition, but still. LT1 and LS1 brakes also have a different e brake style.

You'll also have to drill out the holes bigger on the axle flange. There is a lot of good info here: https://www.thirdgen.org/ls1reardisc/
