Poked around here and there are some older threads (2015 and older) of people asking if it could be done but it appears nobody has done it. Sooooo, has anybody actually done it?
I figure standalone ABS using an MK60 (OEM on E46 BMWs), fourthgen rear and for the front ????.
If he sees this, looks like you still have the stock rear? If so, curious if you considered a 98-02 fourthgen rear and (I assume) less machining/fabricating work. I have 2" bolt-on spacers with CCWs from a fourthgen and C5 Z06 Speedline replicas, so getting new wheels wouldn't be an issue for me.
My video pretty much covers everything.
It's not an easy swap, but worth it for real race 3rd gen. Will end up costing $3,000-4,000 depending on what unit you pick.
I sold a M3 CSL 817 unit last week for $2,150.
Mk60 is pretty nice to have overall though.
I use it as a way to pull me back from overcooking parts of a race track.
A lock up could end up as a nice trip into the dirt and grass, but the ABS makes a big mistake a minor one.
At worst the car will go wide but I'll still avoid the dirt.
Also.
I accidentally damaged some of my PTFE lines with heat, So I ended up remaking them from stainless Hardline and AN flairs.
Oh boy is stainless hardline annoying.
Even with a tube straightener, $300 hydraulic flare tool, and a diamond flair hone tool.
