1986 iroc Camaro rear disc parking break

Hi Fellow third gen owners , I have this 1986 iroc, manual transmission, rear disc brake car . I bought brand new rear calipers for it and have tried to adjust them so the parking brake works. The cable seems to work fine and does pull the adjusters in but it won’t stop the car . I know GM had problems with this parking brake system. Question? Does it ever work correctly? Thank you !

They have to be adjusted up. Using em adjusts em. Problem is, if they're very far out of adjustment at all, it takes about a million iterations, to adjust far enough to work again.

Probably best to take the calipers off, unscrew them with the little tool thing, and try to put them back on; and keep doing that until you can just barely get em back on. Then pull the handle a few hundred times, until they get tight. Then, use them every single time you get out of the car and whenever you've pulled up to a stop if you've used the service brakes very much since last time of parking, and twice or even 3 times on Sundays just for good measure and maybe Wednesdays too, so they don't slack off again.
