Iroc Z Quote! $$
I went and looked at a 1989 Iroc Z convertible, 305tpi, 5 speed, allegedly 55K original miles, but it showed wear with faded seats from the sun and the paint. I wish it wasn't that ugly red. The color looks Maroon, but it's actually that Dark Red Metallic.
If I could buy it, I'd re-paint it a Real Dark Red, not that burgandy color GM called red in 1989.
It has No Rust, no dents, it just looks like it needs a new fresh paint job. I was thinking the odometer could of already rolled over, but it's too clean to have 155K. How much do you think it's worth?
...Opinions are apreciated!

The odometer is six digits, if it had "rolled" then it would indicate 155k not a second 55k. If it needs paint and interior work consider that the actual price will be several thousand more than the purchase price. I have been watching the convertible sales on ebay but as yet have not formed a pricing opinion. For a New England car rust is one of my major concerns, a 55k car with faded paint and interior has seen a good amout of outside time for the milage. If you want to paint the car a different color then it is a major effort and/or expense to make it not look like a painted car...under the hood is a must or it will just look bad.
Guess I would start thinking at 4-5k$

actually my '89 IROC only has 5 digits in the odometer plus the 1/10 digit spot. so if it had 155K on it then it would had been rolled after 99,999

if i were u i would check the carfax report on it in order to check everything. that will tell you how many owners, accidents, salvage title situations, and most importantly mileage. look for anything that may say "exceeds mechanical limits" or "mileage exempt" or, check for relapses in mileage, like one mileage listing might have 89,000 for example and another listing at a later time might say 55,000. As for pricing, check out the private party value under Kelly Blue Book and check out what it is worth in all conditions, then check the retail value of the car. then add your personal opinion based on how much you have to spend and what you are willing to spend. if u do this u will never get ripped off and you will be very satisfied with all buying decisions.
IMO: i wouldnt pay more than 4200 for this car. but of course i havent seen it nor do i know the entire situation on the car.
hope this helps some.
