'91 Red Z28 in SoCal, $4500

The short version: It is a clean car with lots of pretty good parts but the engine needs a rebuild. Needs one new piston (block and head are good to go).
I have owned the car since '96 and it has been in the garage for the majority of that time.
Here's the long version:
I bought this car in Dec. 1996 but now it is time to move on. The motor needs a rebuild as it sucked a valve but I have not decided whether to rebuild it and sell the car or sell the car as a project and let someone decide on their own bottom end.
I think there are a couple people on here entertaining the idea of building a car so this may be a vehicle that you could be interested in. I believe most of these parts would probably work for a lot people.
The car has not been on the road since Thanksgiving Day 2006. On a drive the motor sucked an intake valve that appears to have been a result of not enough piston to valve clearance. The head has been repaired with a fresh valve job by Taylor Engines in Whittier but one piston still needs to be replaced. The bore of the damaged piston suffered no damage and honing is still visible.
Currently the short block is sitting in the engine bay with one head on the motor waiting to be pulled. I do not know if the motor will need different pistons to alleviate the clearance issue.
Best ¼: 13.1 (Fontana)
Best ¼ MPH: 108.1 (Carlsbad)
Best 1/8: 8.18 (Irwindale)
Best 1/8 MPH: 84 (Irwindale)
Best 60’: 1.74 (Irwindale)
I don’t think I ever had a clean ¼ mile run, I think she should have been a 12.8 or better car based on my MPH at Carlsbad but it never happened.
Please PM me if interested.
Specs:
‘91 Z28 under 140k
Motor: 350 standard bore still showing hone marks, Trickflow 195’s (mild bowl work), 10.5:1 forged TRW pistons, rotating assembly balanced by Taylor Engines in Whittier
Valvetrain: LPE 219/219 cam, 1:6 crane gold rockers
Intake: Super Ram, Accel base, 58mm throttle body, k&n factory filter, k&n cone
Fuel: 24lb SVO injectors, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 255 lph pump
Ignition: MSD coil, distributor, wires & 6AL ignition box
Exhaust: 1.75” SLP Headers (jet coated), 2.5” header to cat pipes by Dyno Don, dual 2.5” cats, 3” flow master catback with single exit 3” muffler
Cooling: New radiator, edelbrock aluminum water pump, low temp fan switch
Power: Optima Yellow Top, 145 amp alternator
Tune: Kevin
Everything above has less than 7k miles with the exception of the fuel pump(25k miles), the 6AL box(40k miles), cat back (15k miles), and water pump (20k miles).
Transmission: Bow Tie Overdrive rebuilt at 115K miles, Vigilante Converter 2800 stall less than 5k miles, TransGo shift kit less than 5k miles, B&M Mega Shifter less than 5k miles, auxiliary B&M trans cooler (20k miles)
Rear: stock limited slip, 3:73 gears, disc brakes, relocation brackets for control arms (rearend rebuilt at 90K)
Suspension: adjustable KYB shocks on all for corners (2k miles), Global West wonder bar, rear control arms and panhard bar boxed by Dyno Don, rear air bag
Wheels & Tires: Polished stock 16x8 Z28 rims wrapped in KDW tires
Other: Urethane motor, tranny, torque arm mounts, rear suspension has urethane bushings as does front sway bars, have urethane for front control arms but not installed
Also available: Original rims w/ MT ET Street 26x10.5x16 drag radials on back and cheap 215x??x16 tires on front
BAD: Needs new heater core, AC does not hold charge for more than a few months
Body: Red, probably a 7 out of 10, a couple of small dents on passenger side, fog lamps removed, paint on rear spoiler faded
Interior: Charcoal, pretty clean, new headliner, visors & sail panels, small tears on the both front bolsters, leather on steering wheel in bad shape, have replacement rubber wheel, one crack on dash, old pioneer head unit(cassette), sony 6x9 rear speakers and I think pioneer speakers under the dash (long time ago)
I think that’s about it but I have had this car for a looong time so there might be more that I’m forgetting.

IMHO you would be better parting her, you want way too much for a car in need of that much work
Sorry for my advise and best of luck to you on the sale

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm pretty close to going that route. I'm pretty sure I can get at least $5k by parting her out but at the same time it would be a sad way for her to die.
I could probably have her back on the road for about $300 as the machine work has already been done and she just needs one forged piston, some rings and gaskets.
It's at my parents house and I just don't have the time.
