I am looking for the engine code on a 5L (305 CID), 4 BBL, 8 cylinder in a1982 Camaro Z28 Sport Coupe. Can anyone point out the possible locations for it?.

 

It's stamped into the block deck surface on a pad in front of the passenger-side cylinder head. You may have to remove an accessory located there in order to see it. Additionally, the block casting numbers can be found on the back of the block along the upper area where the transmission/bellhousing is bolted, near the oil pressure sender.
