WTB IROC-Z or newer Z-28
i am currently in the market for a third gen. and am having trouble finding one nearby at a decent price. please, i need your help!
first of all, i am looking for a 85+ IROC with a 350 TPI preferably but a 305 TPI will do just fine or a 90-92 z28 same engine. NO TBI's. would like to find one that is mostly stock but a few mods would not be a bad thing. body must be in good condition with no major dents or scratches. would like to have t-tops(that don't leak) but a hardtop will b fine 2. color is not a big deal to me as long as its all one color and paint is in decent shape. a little clear coat peeling is acceptable. interior not a big deal either. would just like to have one that still has padding left in the seats.
lol. ALL GAUGES MUST WORK!! i am in south carolina and would be looking in the immediate area and surrounding states. cars just over the TN, FL, and VA border will be ok. looking to spend 4500 or less. price adjusted (i.e. nothing over $2000) project cars welcome as long as they don't need major mechanical or body work.
thanks for any and all help you can give.

Says you want an 85 but i have an 84 z28 with 350 ci 300hp.365ftlbs of torque gm crate motor and beefed up rebuilt t-5. The paint and body are 8 out of 10 and interior is 7 out of 10. No dash cracks small tear on drivers seat and shift boot is old and worn out. The paint is shiny and glossy theres a blemish on lower front of the nose and a small dent the size of a nickel on the passenger door. I bought the car from a friend who put in alot of work in it a few years back and then had to store it because he found out he had a kid on the way. I bought it a few months ago and have been working to get it road worthy. Its driving now after an oil change and front brakes. I am replacing the radiator and hoses this weekend. I have $3500 but would be willing to negotiate a good bit because I just got laid off from work. I am in Mooresville NC

The engine and rebuilt tranny have around 10k miles. The car has around 130k not sure though since the car is in my dads garage 10 mies away. The pictures I have are from a camara phone so they arent very good. The car was sitting for a few years after the motor and tranny were put in.I bought the car knowing it wouldnt take much. Only thing it needs that I know of right now is weather stripping. The stripping on it now is pretty worn. T tops stripping isnt bad though. The engine needs a tune up. I have purchased all the parts needed I am doing the radiator, thermostat and hoses this weekend. I still have to do the plugs and wires. I was planning on taking all the smog crap off and putting an HEI distributor new carb and manifold also. The rear isnt a posi and doesnt have disc brakes. I have seen Iroc rears that will bolt right up going for under 200 dollars. I belive the gears are 3.43 not sure though. Basically I bought it because the motor and tranny are good to go the paint and body I cant complain and interior is complete and no dash cracks all power windors work the drivers outside door handle needs adustment to work. all gauges work also.

Might give the folks at Hawks Third Gen a call 864-855-2694. They're located in Easly, SC and might have something in your price range.
Good luck

thanks alot for the tip wadebryant. i will definitely give them a call.
spqrz28 thanks for answering my q's. low quality or not, a picture says a thousand words and would give me a good idea of this car. has the car been sitting? if so, how long? a big question i have, especially for the upcoming summer is GAS MILEAGE. does it suck gas even when driven easy. have the t-tops caused any damage to the area around it since weatherstripping is worn? r u sure that weatherstripping will fix any leaking? thanks

the car was sitting for years. Was driven once in a blue moon. The t tops arent leaking badly at all. Maybe a drip every few minutes It hasnt damaged any interior. The headliner was replaced and one of the edges needs to be glued back down looks great other than that. I bought this car because the price was good and it needed only a little minor engine tuning and fluid replacement and weatherstripping. The stripping isnt expenisive out of year one catalog and I wanted to drop in a distributor new carb and manifold to bypass the computer and get rid of all the smog stuff. Gas mileage I couldnt tell ya I have only driven it about 1/4 of a tank I would say average V8 mileage. Check your mail im sending the pics right now. I looked for a few months for a third gen and couldnt find one for under 5k that looked as good as the one I HAVE. Most around the 3k range were high mileage poor paint and interior and ran just enough for a test drive. This car runs good but a tune would do it more justice. I bought the car cuz paint and body was good interior was good engine and tranny was mechanically sound all compression is good. I remember when the guy bought the motor and tranny and he hardly drove it after that. I estimate that it would take under 1k dollars to make this car a perfect driver Z 28. Weatherstripping is all is needed now but I was gonna do the carb, manifold and distributo replacement which was gonna be about $600 in parts

not now but i can get some soon. Interior is great engine looks normal nothing chrome or anything yet. Drive up I 77 and check it out for the price you cant beat this car. I tried and looked all over you wont find a car that runs with no rust and no interior problems. The only thing to make this car look perfect is a shift boot a steering wheel horn button and weatherstripping around the doors. If i had the money to put 1k dollars into it I could sell it for 5-6k

i have a VERY nice IROC-Z for sale. needs simple things like getting the steering wheel upholstered in leather, the dash has a crack in it, and the oil temp/pressure gauges dont work. might need a new fuse or something, i haven't checked into that yet.
car would come with the stock IROC wheels, not the '91/'92 style wheels posted below
