My next step is the local paper.

I found mine last year in Janesville, WI https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...ine-again.html Place a wanted add on craigslist in the town (or area) and include the VIN. You may also want to get in touch with the DMV, some states will allow you to get current title information if you follow their procedures. Also place wanted adds on any car related board you can - you never know who may be out there who can help.
