snow + IROC-Z
I did some re-arranging in my garage today, figured it would be a good time to start up my Camaro, I needed to get it out of the way anyhow. Hopefully it wasn't too mad at me, this is the first time the tires have seen snow in the 10 years that I've had it. I turned it around in the driveway, let it run for a while, revved it up to annoy the neighbors, and coverd it back up to hibernate again.

I'm surprised you could turn around with that much snow. If my T/A even thinks it mite snow it can't get enough traction to get outta the driveway. Although I must admit I haven't tried the current tires in the snow yet.

It is an original early design Lingenfelter Performance Engineering decal. I have 2 of them. The guy I bought the engine from had them. They were given to him by John Lingenfelter himself when he picked his car up.

Re: snow + IROC-Z
Well I should be clear that I dont like the hitch, it obviously does not look good on the car. At least it is not a square reciever, it is a flat hitch and really is about as unobtrusive as a hitch can be on one of these cars. It also adds weight. But I can't afford a car trailer yet, so I have to haul my stuff with the car.
Here is some video of my first time at nelson ledges, I'm going about 70%. there is in-car footage once you get into the video a little. I have my 275/40/17 road race slicks on, still cooking them in 2nd gear with ease.

Yes, my name is Jeremy, we've met a few times. I was at the WMCC meet last summer. I've also seen you at the Berger show in 2005 and at the camaro superfest in 2006 I think. Your car is amazing, I love it.

You got a bitchin car there man...hope to see you around again sometime.
Re: snow + IROC-Z
Your car looks great. It looks like its got the "one foot in a cold pool" look and it does not want to go all the way in. I second the damn Ohio winters

Speaking of snow and living in Buffalo...
"Hey Joe, can you pull the car out of the garage for the night so they can get into the attic in the morning".
Me: "Sure, what's one night outside."
The next morning:

Blasted out of no where. We got hit bad, there was even a travel band. We got over a foot. I let it warm up, then "tried" to get it into the garage. My tires did nothing in the snow. My neighbors had to push me in. I finally get it in, and see my temp gauge is pegged. That day my fans also decided out of no where they weren't going to work. The engine didn't suffer any damage thank god.

Re: snow + IROC-Z
Think so? You know that I trapped the same as you last year on 7 cylinders with a 3.23 gear and street tires, a mild 219 cam, ported stock heads. I went to the track this summer after I freshened the motor and my TKO 600 broke..... It would be very close in a drag race, and I promise you wouldn't touch me on a road course, so be careful who you make the tail light comment to.

Take it easy guys were all on this forum for the same reason - we have something in common.. that something is a passion for the same car. Lets all get along and keep the competition on the track.
To the OP - I watched your DYNO vids, car sounds healthy. I got nervous when the person backing the car onto the dyno revved it out to like 4,000 rpms just before the video cuts over to it spinning on the dyno.. I thought for a second it was about to go flying backward when he let the clutch out.
I bet you were sweating bullets when that happened!

Re: snow + IROC-Z
The dyno videos are from when my engine was sick and running on a terrible tune. I bought it under the impression that it was healthy and it turned out not to be. It is much heathier now. I rebuilt the engine last winter, and I tuned it myself this summer, its a different car now.
As far as stalling it, there is good reason, its a tricky car to drive. It has a RAM Powergrip HD clutch. It is pretty grabby and likes to chatter from time to time. The problem is made worse this year by the ultra light Mahle pistons, lightened crank and rods, and little 15lb flywheel. Basically the rotating assembly doesnt weigh anything and at an idle it will stall easily, especially with an unforgivingly grabby clutch. The coolest part is that this engine is one of the fastest revving engines I've ever heard on the street. It sounds pretty wicked.

Re: snow + IROC-Z
It's amazing how fast an engine can rev with just a lightweight flywheel, let alone a fully lightened rotating assembly. I know just what you mean about the clutch, I had a 6 puck in one of my vehicles and damn was that thing gripper than duct tape on an orangutans back! It was either on or off, so I feel for the guy backing it onto the dyno.
Nice car none-the-less, tasteful mods!

Wow I bet she didn't like that snow! I live in VA right now but I am originally from Carey, OH I don't know if you know where that is but is a litle south of Findlay. I actually almost went to BGSU but decided against it but I did party up there quite a bit! Its pretty cool to see someone from up there on here. It is like 65 derees down here and I am coming home for a couple of weeks and by the looks of it I am going to need my four wheel drive truck and et my jacket and long johns out of the closet lol.

well I recommend some auto-x first. it is much easier on the car and a lot harder to get into trouble. After you've autox-d a few times, then give road racing a whirl. Road racing demands a lot from a car. The expense of tires, brakes, seats, harness, cage, stout engine, all add up.

Nice car, but as far as you using the trailor to get your race tires to and from the track, just throw them in the back of your white pickup and have someone follow you to the track. I like the car, but trailor hitch=puke.

In all seriousness great camaro. I'm working on making mine a dd road racer, but I'm 19 and in college so it's a long term goal.

The color is a alternate of the factory offered Flame Red Metallic, it has 3 coats of clear, nothing out of the ordinary. This car was my first car and I got it wrecked. My dad and I painted it, that paint job is over 10 years old now!
I know the trailer hitch is an abomination, but it is a must for now. Once I can get a car trailer, it will be gone.

Why? You think that every single person who is going to give him crap about his trailor hitch is going to lose to him in a race? Be serious....in the world of auto enthusiasts, there is always someone out there who is faster. I'm not saying this to bring even more attention to the trailor hitch, but seriously, nobody ever has a perfect winning record.

Just about any brand new import will run better than a 16 this day and age. And where I'm from, it's a common thing to go to a track day and see Civics running 11 second passes. I should know, I got my butt whooped by a turbo'd hatchback Civic last year, he ran an 11.6.

Nah i think we're all just jealous of your car (i know i am!) And like you said that hitch serves a very important purpose, you actually use your car and DRIVE it to the track. Quit bashing his hitch.

1MeanZ - Car looks great. Love the wheels! If you don't mind what are the specs on them and the tires? Looks like a killer setup. I know I want black wheels or maybe gray, definitely a classic 5 spoke. I've been browsing around and I keep coming back to the ZR1s.
The hitch makes sense to me and the trailer seems ideal. If I got more serious with my car I'd probably do the same thing.

Re: snow + IROC-Z
All I'll say about the issue is that most people who make fun of me about it, make fun because they don't know what I do with the car. Lots of ignorant punks on the street make fun of it, and guys like that run a 99% chance of getting wasted in any kind of a race. The guys I auto-x and open track day with, know why it is there, its a fairly common thing to see, and they dont make fun. Most guys that have a faster car than mine, didn't just buy it that way, so they know a little about building cars and again, respect that fact that the car is used for a purpose. You should see how many sweet cars and trucks have small trailers on the Hot Rod Power Tour. The hardcore guys that actually use their cars, respect the reason its there. The garage queen and car show crowd can't get over how it looks. I don't think anyone likes the way it looks, heck I think it looks stupid. But again, it enables the car to do what its been modified to do. Once I'm rich and famous and can afford a car trailer, you guys will be the first to know when I take the hitch off.
First off, you have a bad a$$ car.
Second, I live in Ohio also and I am maybe putting together a ohio cruise in the spring/summer. You will be on the list. I will keep you posted on this. PM me your email so I can keep it!
Third, Though the hitch is ugly, it is understood and acceptable. First look at your car without knowing you from adam, I was like "oh he races". I have done my share of auto-x in past cars (00 Corvette, 91 Miata, 04 RX~8) and you see all types of cars with hitches pulling tires. I have even seen Corvettes with it, new Corvettes so don't sweat that.
Fourth, just for good measure...

Not much snow in SW Ohio this year...YET!

You too... PM me your email if you want to be notified about an ohio spring cruise. It is in the pre-planning for now but should surface. I am also doing atleast the Dayton-Somerset leg of the Power Tour maybe the Dayton-Bristow if anyone is interested in that...
I will start a thread eventually...
