I see the ontario board has its own thread for classifieds. Why can't our board have a sticky thread for classifieds. Theres more then just people in ontario that want to sell stuff in Canada.

I know your going to say the classifieds are on the main page, but it would be nice to have a Canada seperate from the US. Its hard to seach for anything because you start looking and then you realise the GFX you want is in texas, where maybe some guy in NB wants to sell his, but you don't see it amoungst the 2000 other adds.

Just a suggestion.

I have to agree, I would be nice to have a classified section of are own in the Canadian region board. I probably have a haft a dozen item in the garage collecting dust that some other thirdgen owner could use. It would help to get this board moving a little don't you think.

I'll tell you what. For the time being, I'll let you create new threads for parts for sale. I still haven't decided if there should be a single thread dedicated to it. So for now, if you have parts for sale, make a new thread.

Remember:
thirdgen.org is not responsible for transactions occuring on the boards. It is a private sale on a public board.

Iroc22 could you make a sticky saying that we can post items that are forsale in a new thread for the time being, that way others will know on the board.

Hopefully something like this will start to get this board up and running, we really need more activity on here.

Good call Iroc22. The vast majority of the classifieds are for the US and there is a hassle in getting things shipped and across the border. In fact, a number of people don't want the hassle of having to deal with Canadians, as well as it is hard for Canadians to have "recourse" should you get burned by a "US deal".

But, if the person is in Canada, their is no border issue, no GST (unless he's a GST registrant) and normally PST is not an issue (though the purchaser may be required to "sef-assess" depending on what province he's in). And, if the guy is local, you can actually scope out the parts first and then pick them up if you like them. Or, if you need them shipped, it's far cheaper to ship within Canada than across the border.

I consider these the "valid reasons" for having separate posts within the Canadian Board and why the "classifieds" won't work (unless they can make it possible to separate Canadian from US ads).

I do suggest that you run this by Iroctwentygr8 (Admin) and tell him why you feel there should be a concession about posting "classified posts" on the Canadian Board. As I said, I know a number of US guys that won't deal with Canadians because of the hassles. So the Classified Board doesn't really work for us Canadians.

But I support your decision to allow Classifies on the Canadian Board and I'll back you with Iroctwentygr8 ... as well as, I'll support your decision to stop them if you feel they are out of hand.

But thanks for having the ***** to try it (even if Iroctwentygr8 says NO WAY).
