You should require a Provincial and Federal Safety standard inspections...What year is the car? You will definitely require a notice of recall from the manufacturer of the vehicle.

Best thing to do is go down to Canadian Tire and ask them your questions and visit: www.riv.ca

Don't do that... I worked there, trust me, don't do that.

They had a '00-ish Trans Am in for safety inspection, and they made up about 5 problems for the owner to have 'fixed'.

I told the guy that the problems he was just told about weren't real (because they werent, the shop manager said so, said "they don't really need to be done, but we'll see if he wants to") and damn was he pissed.

Don't do to CTC unless you are only buying parts, and only if you know exactly what you need.

Take the car to a dealer or a real, reputable shop for inspection. Trust me.

thank you big time man. I can't wait to lay my hands on a thirdgen.
I'm still hoping to be accepted to car tech school since, as of now, I'm 10th on their stanby list.
If I don't get in, I will probably have to say bye bye to the thirdgen project

Ive worked as a Service Advisor/Manager at CTC for 5 years now, and Ive never had that happen in my shop.

You must work at a corrupt location, Id tell your dealer exactly what's going on and get your manager's and tech's who were involved fired.

I think like any business chain there are good locations and bad locations. The store in my area had a reputation for being a bit like what you described. They have since hired the service manager away from the local Toyota dealership and have proven themselves trustworthy under new direction

That's bull**** man, what a crappy CTC.

Did they have a valid reason to let you go?

Im not sure why they are.

Only things that are usually required are:
Child tether (depending on year)
1990-newer Daytime running lights
1990-newer French airbag stickers

That may be what they are referring to.
