Hey everyone, I'm looking to purchase/restore a 3rd gen Camaro as a tribute to a good friend of mine who had a '86 Z-28 2.8L 5 spd. I'm wondering which year and model of the 3rd gen would give me the best bang for my buck as far as maintenance/performance and availablility of parts, etc. I'm leaning towards the V8 standard side of things.
Any thoughts?

 

My first thought is... I am pretty sure that there was no such thing as a 2.8 litre Z28! Third gen Camaros are generally quite inexpensive. I just put a deposit on a clean '84 Z28 with the 5.0 H.O. and automatic transmission. You should be able to find something quite nice for under $3500... or a decent project car for $500 - $1500 in the local Kijiji.
