question about my system
Hey guys, today I plan on ordering my subs. (2 rockford 10" punch HE2's) powered by a rockford punch 800.2 amp. I'm just going to order the subs and amp kit today and i'll be looking for a good price on an 800.2 amp, I've seen them range from $250-$500. My question is can I hook up my subs and amp once I get them and see how it works before I get a 1 farad capacitor? And if all is working fine do I need to buy a capacitor?
Thanks, Ted

new question
scratch that other queston, i'll try everything out when i get it then go from there on whether to get a cap or not. My next question is this, I've seen some fosgate punch 800.2 amps for sale on ebay, some are brand new and others say they were never used or used for only a short time. Should I bother getting an amp off of ebay if its used even if it still has a waranty from the factory or anything like that. Or do any of you guys want to sell your fosgate punch 800.2 amps?....lol

you can find some great deals on ebay for used amps. if its a decent amp, it should be fine. i bought a 2-3 year old used mtx amp. running at 2 ohms bridged, beyond recommended specs, and the amp is running great. i dont think you have much to worry about if the amp is in good condition.
i know most of us like to install our own stuff but i found with my rockford dealer if i let them install it and it blew up they replaced it with one out of stock rather then sending out for repair where you'll be weeks with out your amp.the other good idea is to take it to a shop that owns an osiliscope and have them tune your amp for max performance and it greatly reduces the chance of blowing things up.
